This region boasts vast fields of a particular variety of lavender known as “lavendin”. Lavendin produces a fruitier, stronger scent than the typical French variety of lavender which you will notice the second you step out of the minibus!
Pose for some photos in front of the fields, after which we’ll visit the farm to discover a selection of lavender based, typically Provencal, products such as lavender and lavendin oil, lavender honey and even olive oil infused with lavender!
Learn all about the cultivation of this magnificent plant and the flowers’ special properties with your tour guide.
THE CHARMING VILLAGE OF MOUSTIERS SAINTE MARIE
One of the Most Beautiful Villages in France
Next we head in the direction of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, where you can spend some free time wandering the quaint village streets and have lunch at your leisure.
Here you will also find the ceramic shops for which the village is known, and don’t miss out on the main attraction – the Notre Dame de Beauvoir Chapel, situated high up behind the ruins of the ancient walls of the village.
Constructed in the 8th century and restaured in the 12th century, this church is steeped in history and offers an unobstructed view over the tiled roofs and across the valley.
After lunch, we’ll depart for the Gorges, traveling along the corniche and stop at numerous lookout points perched at more than 700m altitude, where you will be amazed by the immense limestone cliffs, the depth of the canyon and the beautiful clear turquoise waters that make up this incredible landscape.
ROUTE OF THE RIDGES
